This year I was in the mood to do something for because I was in the mood to wear something for soft and feminine. As for Valentine’s day itself, as someone who as identifies as Aromantic and literally has zero personal interest in being in a relationship ever I’m a little ambivalent about it.
I’m not ashamed or sad about it, I think as a single woman over the age of thirty you are looked upon as a sad immature woman who will be alone with her army of cats. I hate to get feminist on you, but that shit is complete and utter bullshit. There are plenty of happy women who never got married, like Coco Chanel who basically revolutionized the fashion industry and women’s clothing forever.
Don’t feel sorry for me, because the way I feel about my Aromanticism is that similar to some people loving Strawberry Ice Cream, and me hating it. In the end, it’s just a different point of view. I don’t think I’m lacking in love either. I love my parents, I love my children, and I love my friends. I don’t think that type of love is better or worse than a romantic love, it’s just different.
The crazy thing is that I love romance. I had a horrible addiction to Harlequin romance novels in my teens and early twenties, I love a good romantic comedy here or there. I love watching two people fall in love and get together. Even though I’m personally aromantic, I still find a couple in love beautiful to watch. I just know that is just not in the cards for me.
For me, Valentine’s day is a day to celebrate ALL love, not just romantic love. Valentine’s day is a day to celebrate the people in my life and show them how much I appreciate them. I love to send my friends Valentine’s cards (although I have been lazy about it in recent years), buy cutesie gifts for my parents, and buy a box of chocolate for the kids.
So if you are single, and you are feeling sorry for yourself (and believe me I have spent more than my fair share of Valentine’s day like that) then stop, look around all the people you love, and appreciate them that they are there. If you are not Aromantic like me, then you will one day find the love you been waiting for.
Yet my advice is that you don’t waste your time searching for the one, live your life in the moment, and one day you will meet them. However, don’t forget to appreciate the now, and the people you already love that is in your life.

For the outfit in these photos, I decided to wear my very pretty plus size cold shoulder ruffle dress from Charlotte Russe. I know that people are complaining that cold shoulders are totally over, but I will wear this trend until the wheels come off, ya’ll!
Also, the ruffles and the mauve color of this plus size dress is super feminine and perfect for Valentine’s day. It’s also a bit sexy, without being way too sexy, which is completely in my wheelhouse.
If you follow me on Instagram (and you totally should) then you have seen these pair of super cute brown leather wedges that I bought from Payless. I think they are sold out, so I found these similar brown leather wedges. This color brown is a softer alternative to a black and really adds to soft feminine overall look I was going for.
Then finally, I added this pop of bold pink with this vintage patent leather Sasha handbag. I love this bag and I got as a gift, but of course, I couldn’t find anywhere so I found this awesome bright pink patent leather bag set on eBay. As for the jewelry, the costume jewelry is from my mom’s collection as always. I went with red, pink, and tones. My favorite is the roses bracelet.
And that’s my outfit for Valentine’s day. What do you guys think? Love it or hate it? Let me know down in the comments!
