I’m just turned 34, and I’m slowing climbing that ladder to 40. And when you are a woman after 25, you are constantly bombarded with: “When are you going to marry and pop out kids.” Hilariously enough, I adopted my kids first and have been single most of my adult life. Now, though I have found the person who I want to spend the rest of my life with and for the first time in a long time I have been seriously thinking about marriage.
I have turned into the girl looking through wedding magazines and blogs, putting ideas in Pinterest boards and all of that craziness. So I was inspired by my recent happiness to make a plus size wedding post even though it the same week of Halloween and nowhere near the so-called wedding month.
First, let’s start the dress. If I was getting married, I would not want some big fluffy wedding dress that makes me look like a cupcake. When it comes to my personal style I prefer simple things. I also have a deep love of retro style dresses, so when I spotted this gorgeous lace aline tea dress from Modcloth (yes, ModCloth actually size exclusive line of wedding dresses). It’s cute, but sexy without being too much.
Next, around the dress is a simple teal slash. Shades in the Cyan color family are my favorite colors. Since it’s Autumn, you can get away with a pop of color with this teal ribbon slash. It doesn’t seem much but these little details really make your wedding outfit unique and special.
Over the dress, because of this an Autumn outfit, you need warmth; especially if you are having an outside wedding. This simple but elegant white faux fur wrap is perfect the cold weather accessory on your wedding day.
Then, I chose the shoes. Now, I am sort traditional about this, and I believe in wearing heels at a formal event such as weddings. However, I can’t wear tall heels anymore and I don’t know about you but I want to be comfortable. The answer to this dilemma: Kitten Heels. Kitten heels will save your feet whenever you are walking the aisle or if you are going to doing a lot of dancing at the reception. This is why I choose this gorgeous pair of gold metallic kitten heels at Zappos.
Next, I added another teal accent in the form of these pretty square earring studs from Kate Spade. Again, if you want your wedding outfit to be more colorful the best way to do it other than the dress itself is with the accessories. Speaking of accessories, I added a bouquet. Now, I would prefer silk flowers but I just fell in love with these teal and white calla lilies I found on Etsy.
Then the final accessory is, of course, the wedding ring. Again, teal is one of my favorite colors. So teal will diffidently be wedding color, and since my partner’s favorite color is purple it’s a color palette made in heaven. And when it rings, I rather have gemstones than diamonds any day of the freaking week! Fortunately, for this apatite wedding ring, I don’t choose. This is an apatite ring with a diamond accent.
This is my outfit idea for an Autumn or Winter plus size wedding. What do you think? Do you love it or hate it? Or do you have any wedding memories you would like to share? Let me know down in the comments!
